El Paso County planning commission unanimously recommends three development applications to commissioners

At its meeting, the El Paso County Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of three consent items and forwarded each to the Board of County Commissioners for final action.
The commission voted 9-0 to recommend approval of: VR246, a vacation and replat for Kettle Creek Estates, filing No. 2; PUDSP226, a planned-unit development preliminary plan for the Villages at Sterling Ranch East; and SF2417, the final plat for Misfits Crew Estates. Each motion included standard conditions and notations as outlined in staff materials.
The commission approved VR246 on a motion by Commissioner Carlson and a second from Commissioner Schiples, with the motion including four conditions and notations and a finding of sufficiency for water quality, quantity and dependability. The panel voted 9-0 on the motion.
On PUDSP226 (Villages at Sterling Ranch East), Commissioner Schiples moved approval “in accordance with the attached resolution with 7 conditions and 5 notations and a finding of sufficiency for water quality, quantity and dependability,” and Commissioner Jack seconded. Commissioners briefly discussed accessory dwelling units as an emerging element in PUDs; the motion carried 9-0.
For SF2417 (Misfits Crew Estates final plat), Commissioner Fuller moved approval with five conditions, five notations and one waiver and a recommendation of a finding of water sufficiency; that motion was seconded and approved 9-0.
Each of these items will appear on the Board of County Commissioners agenda for final action; the planning commission’s votes were recommendations only.
The commission listened to staff presentations and had minimal public participation on these consent items. Commissioners who cast recorded votes during roll call included (as stated in the hearing): Mr. Hipple (aye), Mr. Carlson (aye), Mr. Trowbridge (aye), Ms. Fuller (aye), Ms. Jack (aye), Mr. Whitney (aye), Mr. Byers (aye), Mr. Mares (aye) and the chair (aye).
