FRANKLIN COUNTY, Feb. 5 — Franklin County public-works staff told commissioners the county is responding to icy conditions and the start of pothole season, with crews prioritizing bridges and known slick areas while weather limits repair operations.
A public-works speaker identified in the record as Bridal told the commission that crews began earlier than usual to treat bridges and treacherous parking areas after overnight frost and ice. Bridal asked residents for patience, saying wet conditions make it difficult to prepare surfaces so pothole repairs will hold.
"We're out trying to fill potholes and repair gravel roads and just we'd appreciate everybody's patience while we're doing that," Bridal said. "When it's wet like this, it's very difficult for us to get them dry enough to hold." The speaker said temperatures were expected to warm, which should improve conditions for repairs.
