Orange County commissioners on Jan. 28 approved an ordinance establishing a 15‑member Mid‑Decennial Redistricting Advisory Committee (MRAC) to redraw county commission districts after voters approved a charter amendment increasing the commission from six to eight seats.
County attorney Whitney Evers told the board the charter amendment requires a revised map no later than Nov. 1, 2025, so the county must act this year. The MRAC will review population data, mapping proposals and public input and deliver recommended maps by Sept. 15 to allow the commission time for hearings and adoption before the November deadline.
