Board approves up to $20,000 in unbudgeted capital for additional Verkada security camera and door work

The Graham County Board of Supervisors approved an unbudgeted capital purchase not to exceed $20,000 to add a Verkada security camera and door access at a facility missed during an earlier countywide systems conversion.
IT director Dustin Welker said the county previously migrated many county facilities to the Verkada system after older security and access software forced a near-emergency project. He told the board one facility's subscription with a previous vendor had been canceled and that the county needed to add the missing site into the Verkada deployment. "The quote that we have for Verkada is to not to exceed 20,000, and that amount, of course, triggers, board approval because it's a capital project over $5,000," Welker said.
Supervisors asked whether the device was site-specific; Welker said equipment can be re-deployed to other locations and noted the county pays a 10-year warranty on installed units. A motion to approve the unbudgeted capital and installation labor passed by voice vote.
