Forney ISD honors students and educators with regional and state recognitions

The Forney ISD Board of Trustees recognized students and educators for academic, athletic and arts achievements at its Jan. 15, 2025 meeting.
Student of the month honors included Hannah Jago, a senior studying health science pathways at Forney High School, introduced during the meeting’s student recognition segment. Elementary and middle school students also spoke during the recognition portion, and student ambassadors addressed the board.
The district highlighted numerous academic All-State and performance recognitions across multiple high schools and middle schools. Administrators read lists of students recognized in cross country, theater and other activities; Forney ISD said recipients met criteria including GPA and other academic and performance standards used by the selecting organizations.
The board also acknowledged theater educators and a middle-school theater teacher who received statewide awards. Athletic highlights included North Forney volleyball’s first-ever state-playoff appearance and multiple teams’ playoff qualifications in other sports; the district reported more than 15 student-athletes signed during the early signing period.
The board celebrated district staff milestones and a cohort of seven FACT program participants who completed college coursework in partnership with a higher-education institution; the district said teacher interns are supported by instructional coaches and campus mentors.
No formal board action was required for recognitions; the segment was presented for trustees’ acknowledgment.
