Cathedral City study session: staff report recommends keeping current practice for commission chair selection; council signals no change

City staff presented a report at the Cathedral City City Council study session on Feb. 12 examining how chair and vice chair positions are chosen for the city’s commissions and committees. Staff told the council the municipal code (Chapter 2.06) assigns commissioners three-year terms and that, unless otherwise specified, commission members elect their own chair and vice chair by a simple vote of the commission.
