The Nevada Community School District Board of Education recorded several routine and funding votes at its Jan. 6 meeting.
At‑risk/dropout prevention plan: The board completed its annual review of the district’s at‑risk and dropout prevention plan and approved it by motion and voice vote. The plan shows only modest edits and continues district efforts such as credit recovery and student monitoring.
Modified allowable growth (MEG) application: The board moved and approved an application for modified allowable growth to provide additional authority and local levy funding for the at‑risk program. Board members noted the application is an annual funding mechanism; funding and levy details will be reflected in upcoming budgets.
Multi‑jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan update: The board approved an update to the Story County multi‑jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan for 2024, a routine 10‑year reauthorization that lists projects and completed items the district had already implemented (improved communications, upgraded cameras and door entries, ball‑field safety projects and related grant reimbursements).
Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes, bills, personnel actions, and routine fundraisers; the packet reflected a hire for a new baseball coach and a pending retirement.
Each motion was seconded and approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting minutes. One agenda item (the Woodward grant administrative costs submission to the School Budget Review Committee) was tabled for lack of finalized information and will return to the board at the next meeting.
