The City of Indianola held a public hearing and voted to advance an ordinance to rezone property for the Indianola Veterinary Clinic and approved a plat/survey to consolidate multiple lots.
Interim City Manager Wade explained that the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of a site plan for the Indianola Veterinary Clinic. The project includes an expansion of the parking lot, a second access from East Trail Ridge Avenue and a stormwater detention basin. "The scope of the site plan also cross 6 lots and 2 zoning districts and the rezoning and the subsequent preliminary plat will help to, clean up all of these issues," Wade said during the public hearing.
Council members closed the hearing without public opposition and moved the matter forward to first consideration of an ordinance amending the municipal code to change zoning from A-1 (agriculture/open space) to C-2 (highway commercial). The council also approved a resolution authorizing a plat of survey so the properties would be under single ownership and the same zoning designation. Both motions received unanimous "aye" votes on first consideration.
The council did not adopt final ordinance language at that meeting; the action was recorded as first consideration and the plat survey approval was recorded in the minutes. Final adoption of ordinance and all remaining procedural steps (final plat/recording) will follow the city's usual land-use review process.
