The Person County Board of Commissioners handled multiple routine organizational and consent items Dec. 2. The board approved the following by voice vote (all recorded as unanimous 'aye' in the meeting):
- Approval of minutes for Nov. 13, Nov. 18 and Nov. 25, 2024. - Statutorily required bonds for specified offices (finance director, register of deeds, sheriff, tax administrator). - Adoption of the 2025 Board of Commissioners schedule of regular meetings (per N.C. Gen. Stat. 153A‑40). - Adoption of the fiscal‑year 2025–26 budget calendar (key milestones: February retreat; CIP adoption in April; manager’s recommended budget in May; required public hearing and budget adoption in June 2025). - Approval of the consent agenda (items listed in the meeting packet) and other routine administrative motions. - Adoption of a resolution recognizing and supporting a Person County America 250 NC committee to pursue commemoration activities; staff noted possible grant routes (the county committee option and a community program option) and the county will coordinate with local arts, veterans and history organizations. The board authorized formation of the committee and adopted the resolution.
