Missouri City — The Missouri City Council on Jan. 6 approved six consent-agenda items that staff said are intended to support infrastructure and operations, including a multi-million-dollar dredging contract and a land purchase to expand the city’s water treatment capacity.
City Manager Angel Jones summarized five of the six consent items during staff reports. Among the items, staff recommended authorization to negotiate and execute a contract with Paragon Integrated Services Group for the Raw Water Reservoir Dredging Project in the amount of $2,434,100; authorization to execute a supplemental agreement with EAN Holdings LLC for vehicle rental services not to exceed $148,500; authorization to negotiate an agreement with Alliance Transportation Group for traffic signal design services not to exceed $135,500; and authorization to execute closing documents to acquire approximately 6.5 acres from Memorial Hermann Health System for the Mustang Bayou Water Plant Expansion Project, at an appraised amount of $565,000, with escrow funding to Texas American Title Company.
Jones also noted an earlier agreement with the Gulf Coast Water Authority that allows on-site disposal of dredged sludge and estimated that disposal arrangement would save the city at least $600,000 on the reservoir dredging project. Councilmembers asked follow-up questions about timelines and next steps; staff said the county is set to bid an associated project and construction is expected in spring under the county’s schedule.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Councilmember Boney and seconded by Councilmember Joanna Otterberg. The vote carried unanimously. The council did not amend the items on the consent agenda and directed staff to proceed with contract negotiations and closing steps as outlined in the staff report.
