Committee approves change to IDACS entry deadline and ties future grants to compliance

The House Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee on Wednesday passed an amended version of House Bill 12 32 that requires certain information to be entered or modified in the Indiana Data and Communication System (IDACS) within 24 hours of receipt or modification and authorizes withholding future grants for noncompliance.
The change, offered as Amendment 2 by Representative Shockwater, narrows the existing ‘‘daily’’ entry language to a 24-hour clock and preserves separate statutory timelines for missing-person entries, which remain governed by existing law requiring earlier entry in some cases. Representative Shockwater told the committee the amendment "changes the existing language…shall be entered in the Indiana data and communication system daily" to require entries or modifications "within 24 hours upon receipt or modification of the information unless otherwise stated by law."
