Resident asks Marion County to study pedestrian bridge to courthouse during public comment

David Beam spoke during the public-comment period Jan. 8 and asked Marion County commissioners to consider the possibility of building a bridge to make it safer for people traveling to the courthouse.
"I was thinking of built a bridge across the Florida County to the courthouse of a bridal. The people make it safer...because somebody's gonna get really hurt 1 of these times," Beam said. He identified himself as "David Beam" and said, "I'm a spoken for disability people," and later told commissioners he is working with the new Salem mayor on the issue. Beam asked whether the county could "look at that for the next budget."
Commissioners thanked Beam for his comments; no staff provided a formal response on the record and the board did not record any directive to study the request during the meeting.
