Civilian Review Board reports 37 use-of-force cases reviewed; all found within policy

A representative for the Civilian Review Board reported to the council that the board reviewed 37 use-of-force cases for the July–September 2024 quarter and requested video evidence for 34 of those cases. The board found all 37 incidents to be within federal and state regulations and city and department policy, with no cases categorized as not-within-policy or inconclusive.
Jason, speaking for the board in Chair Joy Glad’s absence, described the board as composed of seven voting members, two alternate members and one nonvoting advisory member and encouraged community members to apply for open seats. He said the board completed four ride-alongs and that topics covered in training included arrest-control techniques and department demonstrations. He added that the board had no citizen complaints and no recommendations for the quarter.
