Prince George County School Board members heard a detailed presentation from Bus Patrol about a pilot program installing exterior enforcement cameras on school buses and the company’s process for reviewing footage and delivering civil violation notices.
The presentation, given by Ryan Munnell of Bus Patrol, said about 10 buses in the district have been outfitted for the pilot. Munnell described a multi-camera system with a license-plate reader and on-bus DVR that transfers flagged footage via an on-board LTE connection to a cloud review system. “This is a civil violation, so there’s no points on your license,” Munnell said, describing the company’s typical outcome for an illegal pass captured on video.
