Senate Finance committee favorably reports governors appointments to Rules and Reference

The Ohio Senate Finance Committee voted to favorably report the governors appointments to the Committee on Rules and Reference during its Oct. 29 hearing, sending the nominations to the full Rules and Reference committee.

Vice Chair Chavez moved to "favorably report the governor's appointments to the committee on rules and reference," and the motion carried after a roll-call vote. "Having sufficient votes, the motion carries and the governor's appointments are in fact referred to the committee on rules and reference," the chair announced after the tally was completed and the roll remained open until 3 p.m.

The roll call as read in committee recorded aye votes from Chair Cerino; Vice Chair Chavez; Ranking Member Hicks Hudson; Senators Blessing, Brenner, Ingram, Lang, Manchester, Manning, O'Brien, Patton and Roman Chuck. The clerk left the roll open briefly before confirming the motion carried. The committee did not debate individual nominees during the public hearing.

The committee proceedings moved on to its scheduled bill hearings after the referral. The minutes from the committee's June 10 meeting were approved at the start of the Oct. 29 session and made part of the record prior to the appointments motion.

No public testimony on the nominations was recorded in the committee transcript; the committee record will follow routine referral and scheduling in Rules and Reference.
