The Senate Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee on an affirmative unanimous roll call reported Sub. House Bill 23 to the committee on rules and reference after adopting Amendment AM1056.
The fourth hearing on Sub. H.B. 23, described on the agenda as legislation “to create the escaped convict alert program,” drew no in-person testimony, Chair Johnson said at the start of the item. Vice Chair Wilson moved Amendment AM1056 and described its language for the committee before it was adopted without objection.
Vice Chair Wilson said the amendment "provides that upon the application of any prior parent company of a bank, the Secretary of State may appoint and commission persons to act as police officers for the bank." He said the amendment defines a "prior parent company of a bank" to mean a company that previously had a controlling interest in a bank, sold or divested that controlling interest, and had police officers appointed and commissioned for that bank for at least three years prior to the sale, divestment, or dissolution.
After the amendment was adopted, Vice Chair Wilson moved that the committee favorably report Sub. H.B. 23 to the committee on rules and reference. The clerk called the roll; Chair Johnson, Vice Chair Wilson, Ranking Member Weinstein, Senator Craig, Senator Patton and Senator Schaffer voted yes. The committee chair announced the item would be reported unanimously to rules and reference and that the fourth hearing was concluded.
No additional materials or testimony were entered into the record during the hearing.
