Public works: wastewater pump startup delayed, $2.5M funding gap on rail project; ADA comment period set

The chair also said the rail-separation project has a current funding shortfall of $2.5 million and that staff has requested additional funding for the associated station. On the rail-thrall (rail crossing elimination) study, staff reported ongoing contact with the Federal Railroad Administration and an expected agreement in about 90 days; the agreement would require council authorization when it arrives.
An ADA transition plan public-comment period runs Oct. 29 through Nov. 12, with a council presentation planned for Nov. 12.
Other notes: permitting backlog in public works remains elevated as staff balance project delivery and permitting support. Staff also advised an online citizen-action request reporting option on the city website.
What’s next: Staff will return with authorization requests tied to the rail agreement when federal concurrence is available and will present the ADA transition plan to council after the public-comment period.
