Route 117 bridge closure causes minimal disruption to Nashoba schools; culvert work to begin Oct. 20

Assistant Superintendent McCarran told the Nashoba Regional School Committee on Oct. 8 that the Route 117 bridge closure near the Bolton-Lancaster line produced minimal impact on student arrival after a few routing adjustments.
"Overall, we had minimal impact on student arrival this week," McCarran said, and thanked MassDOT, local police and the bus company for prioritizing school traffic and signage.
McCarran said the project remains on schedule following a construction meeting with MassDOT and that the district has added a "roadworks" section to its Common newsletter to keep families informed. She said a separate culvert replacement project will begin Oct. 20 and is expected to last about a month; the bus company and town partners are aware and coordinating routing.
Committee members praised school staff, principals and some staff members who helped direct traffic during peak times. McCarran said the district will issue more specific notices for significant projects affecting arrival and dismissal patterns.
