The Willard City Planning Commission on Feb. 6 recommended that the City Council approve proposed amendments to the tables of uses in sections 24.44.03 and 24.38.03 of the Willard City zoning code.
Maddie, a Willard City staff member, summarized the changes as updates the commission had discussed over previous months. She said the package adds definitions for several terms, incorporates the TOD zone and the old Willard Township zone into the tables, and adjusts the “C” and “P” (conditional and permitted) designations based on revised recommendations.
Maddie told the commission the work included adding definitions and updating use permissions to reflect recent policy decisions. Diane Baker, a resident who addressed the commission during public comment, said she supported codification and the clarifying updates.
After opening and closing the public hearing, the commission voted on a motion to recommend the amendments to the City Council. The chair called for a voice vote; commissioners responded “Aye” and no opposition was recorded on the meeting audio. The commission will forward the staff packet, hearing record and recommendation to the council for final action.
Staff said the changes are intended to reduce confusion when staff and the public reference the allowable uses in each zone and to ensure terms used in the tables have consistent definitions across the code.
