Daggett County reports two new EMT candidates and a fire chief applicant

A commissioner said the training candidates include two people described as having disabilities and that the department expects them to take the national exam after class completion. "That gives two more responding EMTs," a county official said.
Commissioners also discussed the fire department's recruitment for a new chief. Several speakers said one individual, identified in the meeting as Jeff Gosher, has applied and that he has firefighting experience, including wildland fire. "He's got a fair background... and he's excited to learn the other half," one speaker said.
Other operational updates included reports that radios have been installed in response vehicles and that the department had submitted a grant application for a vehicle. "They did put in for... the grant for the vehicle," a county speaker said, adding that the department was "moving forward" on equipment and staffing.
No formal hiring decisions were made during the meeting; commissioners described the chief recruitment and training as ongoing matters.
