The Oxnard City Planning Commission on Thursday voted unanimously to continue consideration of a sand-management plan for the Oxnard Shores neighborhood to its March 6 meeting so staff can incorporate changes requested by commenters.
City staff said the item needs more time for revisions before returning. "Again, on this agenda we're asking that the Planning Commission continue this item to the 03/06/2025 Planning Commission meeting," staff member Mr. Peterson told the commission, saying staff had been "working with the commenters to make a few changes to the plan."
The plan would collect wind-blown beach sand from access points, sidewalks, streets and walkways and redeposit it on the beach at 13 locations. City staff listed the project as exempt from environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines as described in the staff report.
Chair Arejo moved to continue the item to the March 6 hearing; Commissioner Nash seconded. The roll call vote was Chair Arejo: Aye; Commissioner Nash: Aye; Vice Chair Doctor Stewart: Aye; Commissioner Connolly: Yes; Commissioner Schulke: Aye. The motion passed 5-0.
There were no public comments at the hearing. The project will return on March 6 with revised materials for further review.
