Phoenix Elementary School District re-elects Jessica Bueno as board president; Carmen Trujillo chosen vice president

The Phoenix Elementary School District Governing Board elected Jessica Bueno president for calendar year 2025 and Carmen Trujillo vice president during the board's annual organizational meeting.

Board members nominated candidates, and the board conducted roll-call voting after clarifying procedures for handling multiple nominations. Carmen Trujillo nominated Jessica Bueno for president; Dr. Alicia Vink nominated herself. On a roll-call vote Bueno received the majority and was declared president. For vice president, Trujillo and board member Erica O'Vaughia were nominated; a subsequent roll-call vote elected Trujillo.

The nominations drew procedural questions from members about whether nominations should be considered one at a time or by open roll call.
