Lexington County’s procurement staff asked the committee to approve one‑year extensions for two previously awarded contracts.
Public Works requested a first one‑year extension (Feb. 3, 2026–Feb. 2, 2027) for the county’s aggregate materials contracts with Martin Marietta (Raleigh, N.C.) and Vulcan Materials (Columbia, S.C.). The county said the combined estimated annual value of those contracts is $1,000,000 and reported no issues with contractor performance. Committee members asked how price adjustments are handled; staff said contractors may request a CPI increase under the terms of the IFB, and many honor original pricing for several periods.
Procurement also presented a request to extend on‑call cabinetry and countertop services contracts with CTS Commercial Millwork (West Columbia) and Complete Solutions Contracting (Irmo). Those contracts originally went into effect Feb. 3, 2025; staff requested the first available one‑year extension (to Feb. 2, 2027). The combined estimated annual value for those contracts is $65,000; staff listed prior work examples in county facilities (sheriff's department, probate, magistrate) and noted both contractors are local.
Motions to approve both extensions carried unanimously.
Why it matters: Extending existing procurement contracts preserves continuity of materials and on‑call services for county road maintenance and building services, keeping contractors who have performed on county projects available without a new procurement process.
What’s next: Staff will execute contract extension paperwork and continue monitoring performance and any CPI change requests per contract terms.
