Summary
The Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs approved revised personal financial disclosure and campaign finance disclosure forms required by Acts passed last session so they are available before the 2026 candidate cycle.
The Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs approved updated personal financial disclosure and campaign finance disclosure forms during its Oct. 23 session, clearing administrative changes required by legislation passed last session.
The move means forms reflecting changes required by Act 301 (personal financial disclosures) and Act 398 (campaign finance disclosures) can be made available to prospective candidates before Jan. 1, 2026, committee staff said.
Mister Bordelon, representing the ethics office, told the committee that the packet under Title 42 (personal financial disclosures) included mostly minor edits, such as revisions to income categories and the removal of a residential-address field. He said the campaign finance packet reflected more substantial statutory changes and that some forms, including the statement of organization, were effectively re-created.
Bordelon said staff highlighted the edits in red and incorporated suggestions from legislative staff to clarify statutory citations and language. Committee members were given the opportunity to ask questions about the technical changes.
After the presentation, the chair asked for a motion to approve. With no objections, the committee approved the packet of forms so the ethics and elections offices could publish them for the next candidate cycle.
The approvals were procedural and do not themselves change statutory requirements; the forms implement statutory changes the Legislature enacted previously. The committee also approved minutes from the June 11, 2025 meeting by motion of Senator Womack earlier in the session.
The committee did not take additional substantive action on the underlying statutes during the hearing. The ethics office and legislative staff said they will make the revised forms available to candidates in advance of qualifying and will continue to coordinate on any technical clarifications needed before distribution.
