Nashoba DECA advisers request approval to send students to state and national competitions; items to appear on November consent agenda

DECA advisers from Nashoba Regional High School asked the school committee to approve student travel to the Massachusetts state DECA competition and the DECA national competition.
Advisers Mr. Andriopoulos and Kate Norton described the state competition as a three-day, two-night event in Boston’s Seaport area (dates to be finalized via event lottery) and said nationals are scheduled April 25–30 in Atlanta, Georgia. "Our Nationals trip is scheduled for the April... down in Atlanta, Georgia from the dates of April 25 through April 30," an adviser said. The advisers said lodging hotels are assigned via lottery and they were awaiting final hotel confirmations for both trips.
Superintendent Downing and other committee members praised the program; Downing encouraged committee members to participate in the advisers’ annual mock competition and called DECA an "outstanding" program. The committee indicated it will place the travel requests on the consent agenda at the Nov. 19 meeting for formal approval.
No vote was taken on Oct. 22; the administration said the items would be included in the November consent agenda and asked committee members to raise questions before that meeting if needed.
