Commission accepts resignation and makes multiple township and advisory board appointments

The board accepted the resignation of Jacqueline (Jackie) Kelly from the First District Citizens Advisory Board following her election as a district court judge. Justin Wagner, county counselor, presented the resignation and the commissioners voted to accept it by roll call.
The commission also adopted resolutions to appoint Edward Weber as Affton Township Clerk and Michael Rausch as Garden Plain Township Clerk, both nominations recommended by Commissioner Stephanie Wise. Each appointee was sworn in at the meeting.
Commissioner Wise recommended a slate of 10 members to the Third District Citizens Advisory Board; those appointments were approved and the new members were sworn in. The meeting also included the appointment of Hunter Davenport to the Sedgwick County Mental Health Advisory Board, recommended by Commissioner Howell; Davenport was sworn in.
Justin Wagner noted KSA 20-51606 (statutory authority cited in the meeting) makes the Board of County Commissioners responsible for filling township vacancies. Commissioners voted on each resolution by roll call; the approvals were unanimous.
The actions conclude a group of routine appointments and foretell additional staffing and advisory board work in the coming weeks, including scheduling and orienting the new members.
