Bethlehem Area School District board approves consent items, recognizes Freedom High wellness program

The Bethlehem Area School District Board of School Directors on Feb. 24 approved a slate of routine consent items — including minutes, finance, facilities, curriculum and human-resources packages — and recognized Freedom High School for a statewide award for its student assistance program.

The unanimous board votes took place after student representatives from Freedom and Liberty high schools delivered monthly reports. Dr. Silva, speaking after an executive session held before the public meeting, announced that Freedom High School’s Student Assistance Program had been recognized at the Pennsylvania Student Assistance Professionals Conference as “the award-winning secondary school program,” congratulating the school for its wellness work.

Why it matters: The approvals clear day-to-day administrative and contractual work that allows schools and programs to proceed, and the recognition underscores the district’s investment in student wellness supports. Board members also received updates from district task forces and outside partners about enrollment, college transfer agreements and career-technical programming.
