Historic board unanimously recommends Venice Beach Pavilion for local register

The Historic and Architectural Preservation Board voted unanimously to recommend that the Venice Beach Pavilion at 101 South Esplanade be placed on the City of Venice Local Register of Historic Resources (PLAR25000202).
Historical-resources manager Harry Klinkhammer told the board the pavilion, completed in 1964 and designed by William Lind and Cyril Tucker, is significant for its mid-century modern and Googie-influenced hyperbolic-paraboloid roof and its role in the community’s beach history. “What we have before you today is a nomination, to the local register of historical resources for 101 South Esplanade, otherwise known as the Venice Beach Pavilion,” Klinkhammer said during his staff presentation.
