South River Board of Education elects Cynthia Bennett president; Kevin Nielsen named vice president

Cynthia Bennett was elected president of the South River Board of Education at the board's Jan. 2, 2025, reorganization meeting and Kevin Nielsen was elected vice president.

The reorganizational meeting, held at the high school auditorium, also included the swearing-in of newly elected and reelected board members, approval of the 2025 meeting dates, routine approvals for use of facilities, finance and policy agenda items and a move to executive session to discuss attorney-client privileged matters.

The reorganized board took the oath of office for several members, including Renee Bush, Lisa Byrne and Nicole Sadowski, all of whom were sworn in at the start of the meeting. Mr. Rosa, the board secretary serving as temporary chair for the opening, administered the oath to new and returning members.
