Council approves rezone, conditional-use permit for three-story self-storage in Green Haven

The Sacramento City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 21 to rezone 2.27 acres in the Green Haven Executive Park plan unit development and to approve a conditional use permit and site plan and design review for a three-story self-storage building (file P24-014).
Angelo Anguiano of the city’s Community Development Department presented the staff recommendation and told the council the project would rezone the parcel from “office business” to “general commercial,” amend the Green Haven Executive Park plan unit development and schematic map, and allow a fully enclosed mini-storage facility with updated signage allowances and other text edits.
“Staff has evaluated the proposed project and recommends approval of the requested entitlements, because the proposed mini storage facility is consistent with the 2040 General Plan which encourages a variety of professional and service oriented uses to complement existing offices, commercial and residential sectors,” Angelo Anguiano said.
Anguiano and staff noted additional project details: the parcel is 2.27 acres; the proposed building would be three stories; the site sits in the executive airport overlay; the applicant proposes hours of operation limited to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday; an on-site manager would live on the property; the building would be set back about 26 feet from the street; and drought-tolerant native landscaping is planned to soften the building’s impact. The Planning and Design Commission voted to forward a recommendation of approval to the council after a Dec. 12, 2024 hearing.
