Cedar Falls council approves routine ordinances, consent and resolution calendars; moves to executive session

On the ordinances, the council passed Ordinance No. 3090 to reestablish the College Hill self‑supported municipal improvement district on its third and final consideration and passed Ordinance No. 3091 to remove calendar parking on portions of Ellen Street on its third and final consideration. Both ordinances were approved on roll‑call votes recorded as unanimous.
Earlier in the meeting the council also passed an ordinance to provide that general property taxes levied on property within the Hidden Pines Urban Renewal Area be paid to a special fund to repay loans or bonds incurred for that urban renewal area; that ordinance passed its first consideration and received a unanimous roll call.
The council approved the consent calendar items numbered 6 through 13 by voice vote and later approved resolution calendar items 14 through 28 by roll call. The council also approved bills and claims for Jan. 6, 2025.
Finally, the council voted unanimously to move into executive session to "discuss the purchase or sale of particular real estate only where premature disclosure could be reasonably expected to increase the price the governmental body would have to pay for that property or reduce the price the governmental body would receive for that property" and "to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent" pursuant to Iowa Code section 21.5(1) and section 21.5(c). The council recorded the required roll‑call vote and adjourned the open meeting to executive session; no further public business was conducted after the executive session adjournment.
