Measure G oversight committee elects Ginger Pierce chair and Amy Salmina vice chair

The City of Salinas Measure G Oversight Committee elected Ginger Pierce as chair and Amy Salmina as vice chair at its meeting on Jan. 16, 2025.
Committee members opened the meeting with nominations under consideration item 24-405. Chris Callahan, the city attorney, instructed the committee to make nominations among themselves. A committee member nominated Pierce for chair; another member moved to elect her and a second was provided. The committee voted in favor with no recorded opposition. The committee then nominated Amy Salmina for vice chair; that nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The committee completed the leadership elections at the start of the session and proceeded to the agenda items, including public comment and consideration of audit- and finance-related business. The votes were taken by voice; the meeting record shows motions were made, seconded and the chair declared each motion passed.
The new leadership will preside over Measure G oversight work through the committee’s schedule for 2025 and the upcoming tasks that include reviewing the independent audit and providing reports to the City Council.
The committee then returned to the agenda for public comment and consideration items.
Ginger Pierce (Chair) opened the rest of the meeting and chaired the subsequent agenda items.
