Staff described the project as a proposed $104,000 documentary that could cover topics including shipwrecks, local aviation history (noting the Tuskegee Airmen flew from Selfridge), Prohibition-era coastal history and other coastal cultural resources. "We're looking forward to doing a $104,000 documentary," the presenter said.
The program requires a formal resolution of support to apply; staff said the county submitted a pre-application and the full application will follow. Staff estimated award notifications usually arrive in the fall; previous county experience suggests results often are not known until November.
Commissioners asked about the application timeline; staff said the pre-application deadline had already passed but the grant program allowed resolutions within a short follow-up window. The committee voted 12–0 to forward the resolution to the full board for consideration.
