Board approves three roofing contracts covering Chief Umtruck, Daybreak and Tukes Valley

The Battle Ground School District board approved three roofing contracts on Feb. 24 for schools with aging and failing membrane roofs.
Director of Facilities Kevin Joma recommended full replacements using a 30-year fully adhered roofing system to avoid recurrent seam failures on the existing membranes. Joma explained the assemblies had been specified under an earlier design and that fully adhered systems would reduce long-term maintenance risk.
The board approved contracts with Snyder Roofing of Oregon LLC for the Chief Umtruck Middle School project, the Daybreak Primary and Middle School project and the Tukes Valley Primary 100/200/300 building roof project. Each motion passed on voice votes: all directors voted in favor and motions carried 5–0.
Facilities staff said the work is funded from the capital levy passed in February 2024 and that the selected 30-year product was chosen to provide a longer service life and reduce future repairs. Work is planned to be completed during summer months to limit disruption to school operations.
