The Planning Commission approved a site-plan amendment Thursday to modify a tenant space at Peakview Plaza by removing an existing drive-through lane and replacing a drive-through window with an employee access and emergency egress door.
Tammy (staff member) told the commission the amendment was requested by an orthodontics tenant that wants to replace a drive-through window with a door to provide an additional egress and employee entrance. Because the proposed door would be adjacent to vehicular circulation, the Development Review Committee determined a site-plan amendment was required. Tammy said the applicant has met all DRC requirements and will install safety bollards to separate pedestrian access from the remaining drive-through lane.
Parker Thompson of Mint Architecture, representing the petitioner, answered a few clarifying questions at the hearing. Commissioner Carter moved to approve the administrative site-plan amendment; Commissioner Stokes seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval is limited to the requested change to the building face and circulation; any future changes to occupancy or additional exterior alterations would require separate review.
