Benton County Board approves LEA compliance report; notes one CTE teacher license issue

The Benton County Board of Education approved its annual Local Education Agency (LEA) compliance report after staff said the district is compliant except for one career and technical education teacher whose licensure paperwork remains incomplete.
Board members voted to approve the LEA compliance report by voice vote. When asked to explain, a staff member said the LEA report is an annual statement of compliance with applicable laws and procedures. The staff member said that in recent years the district has sometimes had to write correction plans because of teacher shortages, and noted the current exception involving one career and technical education teacher. He said the district expects the licensure issue to be corrected by Nov. 29; if it is not resolved by that date the district would have to change the report to reflect noncompliance for that position.
Why it matters: the LEA compliance report documents whether the district meets statutory and regulatory staffing and procedural requirements. A noncompliance finding can require corrective actions and reporting to state education authorities.
The board approved the report and moved on to other business.
