Board approves FACES International DEI contract paid by PCCD grant to restart equity work

The Easton Area School District Board approved a contractor agreement with FACES International to provide diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) consultation and professional development through funds from a PCCD grant.
Board members asked for clarification about the scope and funding for the work. District administrators described the contract as a one-year, grant-funded effort to “enhance” the district’s DEI work, not to replace existing internal efforts. The contract includes community canvassing and focus groups, professional development for staff, and a fellowship program that the district said will include participants from Easton and a partner district, Bethlehem Area School District, under a train‑the‑trainer model.
Administrators said the contract was intended to help the district gather community input rather than rely on internal assumptions about needs, to build leadership capacity among staff and to create professional development materials and teacher supports. They reported no additional district-general-fund cost for the contractor, saying the work will be paid entirely with the PCCD grant funds and that Bethlehem will share some costs for the fellowship partnership. Administrators also noted the grant has a one-year spending window and that the contractor work will span that grant period.
Following the explanation and questions from board members, the board approved the FACES International agreement as presented; the motion carried by voice vote.
