The Easton Area School District Board of Directors unanimously elected Jody Hess to a one-year term as board president and Nikisha Robertson to a one-year term as vice president during the board's Dec. 3 reorganization meeting.
Under the Pennsylvania School Code sections referenced at the start of the meeting, the reorganization session’s sole purpose was to elect officers for one-year terms and to conduct any other properly presented business. The board opened nominations, held roll-call voting and then turned the meeting over to the newly elected president.
Board members nominated Brian Snyder for temporary president during the opening portion of the meeting. After Snyder was confirmed to preside temporarily, nominations for permanent president were opened and, with a single nominee, the board voted by roll call. District staff member Miss Ramirez conducted the roll call, which the presiding officer confirmed as a 9–0 tally in favor of Hess. After that vote, the meeting was turned over to President Jody Hess.
The board then opened nominations for vice president, received a nomination for Nikisha Robertson and approved Robertson by roll call. Members indicated approval by voice and by roll call; the chair announced the result as unanimous.
The board moved immediately from the reorganization items into its regular agenda. New President Hess briefly presided and led customary congratulations and transition remarks before the meeting continued.
