Library supporters describe Issue 2 as modest levy to preserve services for children, seniors and businesses

Jeff Brock spoke at the Beavercreek Women's League forum in support of Issue 2, a proposed 1-mill, 10-year levy for the Greene County Public Library.
Brock said Issue 2 would maintain current library services and said the library serves more than 100,000 cardholders countywide. He described the levy as costing "about $35 a year for most property owners" and said the rate would not automatically increase if property values rise because the levy is fixed. "This levy, which will never increase even if property values do, will ensure your library keeps current services and holdings in place and grows those resources to keep your community strong," he said.
Brock listed programs supporters say would be protected by the levy: more than 900 story times a year, a bookmobile that visits over 2,000 children a month, a tutoring program that helped more than 10,000 students in four years, makerspace and technology access for job-search help and business development. He urged voters to support Issue 2 on Nov. 4 and to consider yard signs or volunteering in favor of the measure.
The forum presentation was informational; no formal vote occurred at the event.
