The Parks Committee voted unanimously to recommend that the Common Council approve buying a forestry body with a hoist for a city truck.
The recommendation covers a $47,137 quote from Casper's Truck Equipment to supply the rear body and hoist for a truck the city already purchased. Parks Director said the city bonded $182,700 in 2025 to buy the truck and related equipment and that the truck chassis, purchased earlier this year, cost $96,767 and is already at the city's parts shop. "We are familiar with that company. We would recommend approval. We feel confident we'll end up with a good end product," the Parks Director said. After the body, hoist and about $5,000 in additional lighting and equipment, the director estimated the final cost at approximately $149,000, which the director said is well below the authorized bond amount.
The committee took a formal motion to approve and recorded an affirmative vote; the committee chair said the committee's vote will be a recommendation to the Common Council for final approval. The committee's next Common Council referral date was announced as Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m.
The purchase is presented as a straightforward equipment procurement; no amendments or dissent were recorded during committee discussion.
The item will appear on the Common Council agenda for final action.
