The council approved, as to form, a three‑party agreement that will allow city staff to administer a portion of a $380,000 Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency (OLHSA) senior chore grant intended to help older residents with home maintenance tasks.
City staff said the grant has funded grass cutting and snow removal to date and that a portion of the award will fund home repair and chore assistance. Staff reported 18 applications in round one and said they had received roughly 20 additional applications in round two; a third application round remains open.
Council asked whether the available funds will cover current applications; staff said they expect to assist all round‑one applicants but that total awards will depend on individual grant requests (many applicants request about $5,000 each). Staff said they will continue to accept applications and maintain a wait list, and that they intend to ramp up contractor outreach and begin on‑site work for round‑one recipients.
A motion to approve the agreement as to form, with authority for the city manager to make necessary amendments, passed on a roll-call vote with council support.
