Latavius Wilkes named assistant principal at Davidson Middle School

Superintendent Chambers presented Wilkes's background: Wilkes is a product of the Okaloosa County School District and Crestview High School, attended Duke University (earning a B.A. in sociology), held positions in juvenile justice including youth worker and detention officer, transitioned into education teaching multiple subjects in juvenile justice facilities, served as dean of students at Walker Elementary, and earned a master's degree in educational leadership. Chambers said Wilkes has "25 years of experience mentoring, teaching, and promoting youth success" within the district.
Mr. Bridal moved approval; the motion was seconded by Miss VanChek and carried 5‑0. Wilkes spoke briefly to thank the board, faculty and family and said he was "honored to join an incredible team" at Davidson.
