Okaloosa school board names Nathan Bassett 2024–25 Volunteer of the Year

Chambers added that Bassett volunteers "6 hours a day during his months off."
School staff member Dr. Chapman, who spoke at the meeting, said Bassett "is definitely a staple in our school" and recounted occasions when Bassett stepped in at short notice, including supervising a field trip and assisting in classrooms during emergencies.
Bassett received an on‑record appreciation from the board; he accepted the recognition and thanked the board, his family and district colleagues.
The recognition occurred during the portion of the meeting designated for district recognitions and did not include any formal policy or budget action.
