Commission approves quick-build traffic-calming at Broadway, Sapphire and Guadalupe

The Redondo Beach Public Works and Sustainability Commission on an unanimo us roll call vote approved a short-term, quick-build traffic-calming plan that uses flexible rubber curbs, striping and selective flexible posts at the Broadway, Sapphire and Guadalupe intersection.

The short-term changes are intended to shorten crosswalks, improve visibility for pedestrians and reduce illegal driving behaviors at the large asphalt area where residents have reported ‘‘donuts’’ and other hazardous maneuvers. The commission approved staff’s recommendation with small adjustments suggested by commissioners, including enclosing a couple of small islands and adding reflective elements.
