The Tahoe Truckee Unified School District board approved a memorandum of understanding June 11 to partner with Aim High to provide a free summer program for rising sixth‑through eighth‑grade students.
Under the agreement, Aim High will operate a free program on district property (Keanos Beach Elementary School) for up to 100 participants. The district will provide transportation to and from the site for enrolled students and make a one‑time monetary contribution of $35,000 to support the program. Aim High will recruit students and educators for the summer offering.
Assistant Superintendent Sean Roderick presented the MOU and described Aim High’s approach: the program aims to build academic confidence, enrich student learning beyond the school year and develop skills for high school readiness. Board members praised the partnership’s potential to expand summer learning access and accepted staff’s recommendation to approve the MOU.
The board voted to approve the agreement at the meeting; no members of the public offered comment on the item.
