Pakistan says tariffs pose risks and opportunities, plans trade delegation to Washington

“Every crisis has an opportunity,” Bilawal said in response to a question about tariffs, adding that Pakistan hopes to use current trade tensions to pursue a “more comprehensive dialogue” with the United States on trade and investment.
He said Europe remains Pakistan’s largest market and that a Pakistani trade delegation will visit Washington, D.C., to engage the U.S. administration and congress on economic and trade issues. Bilawal said Pakistan seeks to unlock further economic potential in its relationship with the United States while continuing trade with regional partners.
On questions about the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and concerns about strategic infrastructure investment, Bilawal said Pakistan maintains economic relationships with both the United States and China and argued that engaging economically with multiple partners is normal and in Pakistan’s interest.
Ending: Bilawal said the delegation will move from multilateral discussions at the U.N. to bilateral talks in Washington, where it will press for deeper trade engagement.
