Planning commission amends and approves annual report to Maryland Department of Planning

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted May 28 to amend and approve its annual report to the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) and to transmit the report to Town Council.
Planner Sarah Franklin summarized the form MDP requires, saying the annual filing records units developed in the town and asks commission(s) about progress relative to the comprehensive plan and planning activities. Franklin told the commission she included "coastal resiliency and climate change study implementation" as an item the commission may seek assistance on from MDP.
A commissioner noted an internal inconsistency on the draft form where a box under item 5 had been checked "no" while a separate box beneath it marked "sensitive area" was checked. Franklin agreed to update the draft for internal consistency. After discussion the chair said, "I will go ahead and make the motion to amend, with the, number 5 reading yes and, approve to transmit to the Town Council." The motion was seconded and the commission voted in favor.
The approved amendment directs staff to change the report’s item 5 to read "yes" for the sensitive-area question and to include coastal resiliency as a matter for follow-up with MDP. Staff will transmit the amended report to Town Council for final action.
