City utilities honored; treatment plant generator started and transportation master plan draft circulated

Mount Pleasant council received several infrastructure updates at its Jan. 14 meeting, including recognition for utility crew work, a progress report on the wastewater/treatment plant startup and distribution of a draft transportation master plan for council review.
Public works staff described a recent award from an industry group for in-house utility reconstruction and switching work, noting the city performed a transmission rebuild without any customer outages. Staff said the recognition came from a regional utility association and that a video of the project was available for council review.
On water and treatment-plant work, staff reported a generator startup had taken place and electricians and vendor teams were finishing final work; a well start-up and calibration was targeted for the coming Monday. Staff said the treatment plant would be operated for a 7–14 day test run to collect required data for state operating permits once calibration is complete.
Council members were also told a draft transportation master plan had been circulated (the document is about 69 pages, per the project manager) and that contractors were finalizing socioeconomic and pavement-condition data; councilors were asked to review the draft and provide comments to staff.
Ending: Staff will follow up with copies of the award video for inclusion in city communications, proceed with the well start-up and testing protocol for the treatment plant, and continue to work with the transportation-plan consultant to finalize the draft for adoption.
