Representatives of the Laguna Art Museum briefed the City Council and public on March 11 about an upcoming community art installation tied to a fundraising campaign.
Trustee Wendy Aird reviewed the museum’s 107‑year history and described the ‘‘Every Single 1’’ campaign, which museum executive director Julie Perlin Lee said has a $1,000,000 target. Perlin Lee said the campaign funds will support exterior beautification, interior accessibility upgrades and community programming. She clarified the proposed name placement on the building is temporary: donors who contribute $250 or more will be able to add a name tag to a temporary installation that will remain in place for a short period then be removed as part of the project.
Aird invited the community to participate in the April installation and encouraged contributions; Perlin Lee said funds would support new acoustic improvements inside the museum as well as programming for community audiences. No council action was required for the announcement; the museum’s request was informational.
