The city’s external audit partner presented the Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and reported an unmodified opinion on the city’s financial statements, meaning auditors found the statements free of material misstatement.
Britney Williams, engagement partner for the city’s auditors, told the council the firm issued a clean opinion on the financial statements and that other audit reports — including the highway user revenue fund and major federal program testing (the CDBG entitlement grant and coronavirus state and local fiscal recovery funds) — were issued without findings. Williams said the firm issued no findings under federal awards and noted the single‑audit results included an unmodified opinion on compliance for major federal programs tested.
Councilmembers and staff, including audit‑committee members, thanked finance staff for the clean report. Councilmember White and Vice Mayor Nielsson noted the audit committee’s quarterly review of audit status during the year and commended accounting staff for producing a clear set of financial statements.
City leaders said the results indicate sound financial controls and thanked the finance team for their work; auditors noted the single audit includes schedules showing federal expenditures and compliance testing and said the firm will continue routine reporting and the alternate periodic impact fee report process.
